It takes a 40 min ride by bus to Pont du gard. The Pont du Gard is exceptional for its dimensions, at 49 metres tall it is the highest Roman aqueduct bridge in the world. It is the only example of an ancient three tier bridge still standing today. Swimming and kayaking opportunities below the Pont du Gard and a visit to an excellent, child-friendly museum round off the visit. The bus Ligne 121 brings you almost directly to the Pont du Gard. AVE train from Nimes (d: 09:01) to Figueres Vilafant (a: 11:39). From Figueres Vilafant take the bus (there is only one bus) at the train station entrance to Figueras City, bus station (20min ride). From the bus station there are several buses in direction of Cadaqués. Check the bus timetable of the bus company monventis operating the route here. Tickets are also availabe online. The ride takes around 1 hour.
Between Roses and Cadaqués a pass has to be overcome. The road is well constructed, but there are numerous bends. If you have a sensitive stomach, rather take the boat from Roses to Cadaqués.
What to do?
Cadaqués has numerous beautiful bays with pebble beaches. Snorkelers can discover sea urchins, starfish, fish and maybe even an octopus. In fall, you have the beaches almost to yourself.
In addition, numerous coastal hiking trails offer great views of the sea and the coastal landscape consisting of cactus and olive groves.
We can recommend the coastal hiking trail, which starts in Cadaqués and goes via Portlligat up to the Faro del Cap de Creus. In Portlligat you can visit the Dali vacation cottage. You can find hiking maps online or at the tourist center. The hike takes about 3 hours. Although it is well signposted, it is not suitable for children under the age of 5 due to its exposed nature. Good footwear is recommended. It can get very hot in summer. Along the hiking trail, there is always the opportunity to take a detour to the sea. Take food and drink with you, as there are no refreshment facilities along the way.
If you do not want to hike there and back, it is worth asking in advance at the tourist office in Cadaques whether there are shuttle buses that will take you back to Cadaqués.

The same bus that took you from the train station to Figueres will now take you back to Figueres Vilafant station in comfort. There are restaurants at the station.
What to do?
In Figueres, quite centrally located, you will find the Dali Museum. As it is often (too) crowded, it is worth planning your visit in advance.
